The forests and the Mediterranean scrub, crisscrossed by streams, provide the perfect habitat for the typical flora and fauna of the coastal region.
In the territory of Monteverdi Marittimo is the Monterufoli-Caselli nature reserve, managed by the mountain community Alta Val di Cecina. Wild boars, deer, foxes, badgers, and squirrels live there alongside reintroduced species, such as the mouflon and the fallow deer.
The small town of Monteverdi Marittimo is also very close to the sea, and a visit to Castagneto Carducci and Bolgheri is truly not to be missed.
The small, typically Tuscan community of Monteverdi Marittimo can be explored in two ways. It all started with our own house 'Casa Mela', which we have been renting out to guests during the season for 24 years. Over time, word got around among neighbors, friends, and friends of friends that Mrs. Kruggel does a pretty good job - and today I make my living at the place where you spend your vacation. Although my territory has expanded a bit, 'my' houses are still within a quick reach for me, so I can really be there for you in person if needed.
