Pazin is the administrative center of Istria County and already in the 19th century, mostly because of its central position on the Peninsula, but importance as well, came to be called the “heart of Istria”. City of Pazin was established in some ancient and turbulent times. Its pride is the most preserved castle in Istria, a massive construction that used to be the seat of rulers over Austrian part of Istria and today serves as a museum. The famous Pazin Cave still keeps its secrets while the entire area abounds in beautiful natural works of art like waterfalls, rivulets and indented relief.
