Right next to the old campanile and church, you'll find the over 150-year-old holiday home Casa Castagna. The house has been completely renovated since 2020, without altering its external appearance too much. Inside, the stairs, floor levels, and building services have been completely rebuilt.
A spacious living/dining area on the first floor with a kitchen and an open, large fireplace, and two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms on the floors above make for a comfortable stay.
During the renovation, special attention was given to natural materials: wooden plank flooring in the three living levels, stone tiles on the ground floor. Windows and doors were crafted with high quality by carpenters; just like the washbasins, bed frames, and the large dining table (all solid oak).
Outside, next to the entrance door, the old stone bench with a vine-covered pergola invites you to enjoy your first coffee of the day or an aperitif.
On the ground floor, there is a washing machine and ample storage space for your bicycles.

Casa Castagna is peacefully situated in the small village of Kostanjica (Castagna), above the Mirna River, yet is only a short drive from the beach and tourist hotspots. This part of Istria is among the most popular and is the stronghold of truffles, home to some of the best winemakers and olive oil producers in Croatia, and has developed into a gourmet destination over recent years.
It's ideal for nature lovers, individualists, and active holidaymakers (mountain biking/road cycling, hiking). The village of Kostanjica is also located directly on the famous Parenzana cycling trail.
The (few) neighbors are warm-hearted and - due to historical reasons - all speak Italian.
Arriving by car from Slovenia via the federal road 21, or the E751 and then federal road 301.
Airports: Pula, Trieste or Rijeka, then continue with a rental car.
