The municipality of Nahetal-Waldau in the middle of the Thuringian Forest Nature Park consists of five small towns with a total of around 3,500 inhabitants, one of which is Waldau. There are forest and meadow paths and a cycle path in the immediate vicinity. The Ratscher mountain lake is only 2.5 km away and you can reach the Vessertal, the most beautiful valley in Central Germany, in just a few minutes.

Activities nearby: Waldau is an ideal starting point for hikes. The Vessertal is just around the corner with some beautiful circular hiking trails. The Rennsteig, a hiking trail around 170 kilometers long with various entry points and signposted routes, is around 15 km away. At the nearby Ratscher mountain lake you will find plenty of opportunities for water sports and swimming. The summer toboggan run in Waffenrodt and the adventure playground next to it are a worthwhile destination, especially for families with children. There are also many castles and palaces in the area, as well as museums on various topics.
