Even today, there are many testimonies of the long history of this special city, especially on the 40-hectare island of Ortygia, the heart of the old town, for which you should plan a day. A trip to the nature reserve of Vendicari, about 40 kilometers away, a mix of lagoons, sand dunes, rocky coasts and sandy beaches, is also recommended. Here you can discover a variety of flora and fauna. You can also visit the baroque town of Noto, which was almost completely destroyed by an earthquake in the 17th century and then completely rebuilt.
