The tastefully furnished 4½-room apartment is located on the ground floor of a well-maintained two-family house in a quiet and sunny location with a view, approximately 1 km above the lake. The attractive apartment has a living area of about 90 m², a terrace of about 31 m², and a garden of about 60 m². From both the interior and the exterior, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the lake and the opposite mountains. Free WLAN internet access is available for surfing the web. The public beach and the boat landing stage are about 1.5 km away, so you can reach many excursion destinations by passenger ferry. For daily shopping needs, there is a grocery store as well as a pharmacy, a doctor, a restaurant, and a pizzeria with a very beautiful view in the district of Gonte, about 1 km away.
For hiking enthusiasts, there are numerous opportunities to explore Oggebbio and its surroundings on beautiful trails through seemingly endless chestnut and beech forests. Along the way, you will be surprised by impressive viewpoints with constantly changing views of the exceptionally beautiful landscape and the lake. For passionate golfers, there are five greens with different levels of difficulty within 15 to 30 minutes by car. You can park your car in one of the free public parking spaces about 250 m below the house. Unfortunately, you cannot drive up to the house for loading and unloading, but the landlords are happy to assist you. Pets are not allowed. The name of the place Oggebbio, which is composed of 15 different villages (approximately 1,000 inhabitants), is derived from the Greek "eu" (= good), "ghe" (earth), and "bios" (= life), meaning "earth of the good life." In this fertile area, rye, oats, and potatoes were cultivated from the foot of the lake to the chestnut forests in the higher elevations, and livestock farming was practiced in earlier times. The wood from the forests was used, among other things, as fuel for the steam locomotives of the railway in Verbania, and the twigs were even transported to Milan so that the local bakers could heat their ovens. In the municipality of Oggebbio, there are many architectural gems to discover, such as the Parocchiale dei Santi Pietro e Paolo parish church in the village of Gonte with the highest bell tower (42 m) in the Verbano area, the Romanesque church of Sant’ Agata from the 12th century, or the chapel "della Natività di Maria di Cadessino" with its wonderful cycle of frescoes from the 15th century in Novaglio.
The unique microclimate in this part of Lake Maggiore also favors the growth of many Mediterranean and exotic plants. In the second half of the 19th century, the "Camellia," named after the Jesuit father Georg Joseph Kamel and belonging to the family of Asian tea bushes (Theaceae), made its entrance here. The rare forms of the winter camellia are the queens of the colder season and nowhere else in Europe can they find better climatic conditions to thrive. But not only for nature and plant lovers does the area around Oggebbio have a lot to offer, the varied excursion possibilities on the lake as well as in the mountains and valleys give this area a very special charm. The proximity of well-known places like Locarno and Ascona with their annual international film and jazz festivals expands the possibilities for relaxation, sports, and culture.
