La Kalsa comes from the Islamic domination, therefore an exotic and unique atmosphere still characterizes its Arab-Norman monuments. It is a popular and prime location, an authentic example of Palermo life. You will have the chance to meet people cooking on the street or selling "babbaluci", which are snails marinated in oil, parsley, garlic and pepper, served in cones! The heart of the area is Piazza della Kalsa, but also includes Corso Vittorio Emanuele and many of the most interesting monuments of the city.
Palermo, one of the most beautiful cities of art in the country and the capital of Sicily, offers plenty of wonderful Unesco heritage sites that can be visited in the four historic districts of the city. In this regard, tourists can take part in the "Baroque itinerary of Palermo' to visit the main monuments of the city, such as the Church of the Holy Savior, the Church of Santa Maria del Monte Oliveto and the Church of the Conception. The city also offers the opportunity to participate in the "Tour of the Historical Markets of Palermo' which will allow guests to explore the markets of Ballarò and Capo. It doesn’t matter if it’s lunch or snack time, it is strictly required to taste the dishes with your hands only! This tour will also give tourists the opportunity to admire prominent buildings, streets and squares.
The central train station is just 15 minutes walking away and there are many connections from/to the airport and to locations as Mondello and Monreale! All the main attractions are within walking distance.
