Beautiful areas
The roads around Beregomet lead to beautiful areas with small Ukrainian villages, ski and nature areas and barbecue areas surrounded by nature.
Holiday destination
Carpathians
Cozy House / Beregomet is located in Bukovina - one of the most interesting and friendly parts of Ukraine. There are many things to do in the foothills of the Carpathians. Out of silence, out of nature. The house, the environment invites you to rest and relaxation. Mountains, forests, lakes, river. Skiing and hiking (winter, summer). Nice big and small Orthodox churches nearby.
Small Vienna
About one hour drive: historic university town Chernivtsi with many attractions: theaters, music (classical / modern), museums, Palace of Culture of the University (originally cathedral), music schools, amusement parks. In the city there are good Azerbaijani, Japanese and 'local' restaurants. Sometimes a bit romanticized, Chernivtsi is called Little Vienna because parts of its architecture are reminiscent of Vienna.
Contrast
The maintenance and renovation of historic buildings in Chernivtsi is slowly getting better despite limited possibilities. Interesting contrasts: modern residential areas and shops, surrounded by historical districts, university buildings and remnants of the Soviet era.
Getting there
Welcome to the big, beautiful European country of Ukraine!
In Ukraine it is one hour later than in Western Europe.
Adventure
Ukraine is a European country, but not part of the EU. It is an adventure to discover the friendly side of Ukrainians and their special country. As Ukraine works on more democratic freedoms and modern developments, there is now far-reaching friendly, cultural and economic relations with the West.
For sure
Cozy House / Beregomet / Bukovina is located in the Carpathian Mountains on the border with Romania. It is a safe and quiet area, away from the unrest in the East.
Border crossings
There are three major border crossings for international traffic:
1. About Poland. Great border crossing - takes the longest.
2. About Hungary. Small border crossing - cozy, but sometimes a bit chaotic.
3. About Romania (Siret). Average border crossing. Relatively neat organized, close to the house in Beregomet.
Wich border?
1. Traveling via Romania (Siret) are mostly from Bucharest.
2. Via northern Hungary and then along the Romanian border with Ukraine you will pass the border of Siret too. Very nice route through the beautiful Carpathians. Many mountains, beautiful cities, more or less reasonable roads.
3. If you already cross the border with Ukraine in northern Hungary, you will travel through the beautiful Ukrainian part of the Carpathians. You drive through untouched parts of the Carpathians and through various winter sports and holiday areas. The roads are getting better every year, but on average the roads are a bit less than in Romania.
Drive carefully, enjoy anyway
The first part in Ukraine after the border Hungary / Ukraine has interesting villages and a beautiful city. However, after a few kilometers you will come across bad roads through some isolated villages. Carefully drive, but still enjoy the environment. Then you reach again acceptable roads and - as always - beautiful areas.
BORDER CHECKS
As Ukraine is outside the EU, there are border controls, and crossing the border usually takes some time. Sometimes you get through relatively quickly, sometimes there is a long line of cars and it can take a relatively long time. This also applies to the way back. Remember, when planning your trip to and from Ukraine.
DOCUMENTS
No special papers like a visa are required. Unless the stay lasts longer than 90 days. The passport must be valid at least 3 months after departure from Ukraine. Children need their own passport. If both parents are not traveling with the children, it is advisable to bring with them a consent from the absent parent. This applies both inside and outside the EU.
