re~barn is a former cow barn/pigsty from the 1910/20s, which we converted into an individual self-catering accommodation. Our aim was to connect "old & new" as well as "time together & privacy" in a natural creative way. Designed for relaxing days with friends or family!
A spacious community room for all guests builds the center featuring a fully-equipped (solid wood) kitchenette, table and lounge area for cooking, eating, playing and laughing together.
It is surrounded by 4 individually furnished loft-style living-/bedrooms. They each offer a private retreat for 1-3 people, and come with their own entrance as well as en-suite facilities. The common room has an additional guest toilet with walk-in shower and home-made washbasin.
Brick building with brick barrel vaulted ceilings, attached to one side of the main farmhouse. Furnishings/equipment are designed with adults in mind. No TV, but Wi-Fi available. Washing machine / dryer situated within hallway of main building. Parking spaces for bicycles. Our electricity comes from renewable energies.

Relax in the countryside, browse a book, or enjoy the starry sky in clear evenings. Two swimming lakes nearby. In the area various amusement parks (e.g. Serengeti Park, Vogelpark) or various places & cities to visit (e.g. Alden, Celle, Hanover). Day trips, for example to Heide-Park Soltau, Lüneburg, Bremen or Hamburg are also popular options.
re~barn is located on our farm in the old center of Essel, a village in the rural district Southern Heidekreis (Niedersachsen, Germany). The farm is still operated as a sideline (grain). Farm animals are no longer present.
Essel belongs to the idyllic "Aller-Leine" valley and is surrounded by fields, meadows and forests. The "Aller" is close to the outskirts of the village. A good starting point for walks, hikes and bike rides in the countryside, or excursions within the surrounding area.
Idyllic, but yet easy accessible - due to close connection to the A7 (exit "Raststätte Allertal"/"Schwarmstedt") we are easily accessible by car: from Hamburg (120 km), from Bremen (90 km) and from Hanover (50 km) to Essel.
