Between Oberstaufen and Immenstadt (in the Allgäu) lies the approx. 1 km wide Konstanz Valley at an altitude of approx. 750m above sea level. It stretches from the Großer Alpsee to the Staufen with a length of about twelve kilometres.In the north of the valley runs the Salmaser Höhe (1254m), the southernmost ridge of the central part of the Nagelfluhhöhen between the Bodensee and the Wertach.
Due to the location of the Großer Alpsee in the valley, it is a suitable sailing and surfing area because of the good wind conditions. The AlpSeeHaus museum in Bühl is considered the gateway to the Nagelfluhkette Nature Park.
In Ratholz, the Alpsee Bergwelt has one of the largest summer toboggan runs in Germany, where you can sledge down into the valley. In winter you can also sledge there on two natural toboggan runs. In the Hündle-Thalkirchdorf ski area, you can ski down into the Konstanz valley on more than 20 slopes in winter. In addition, the Konstanz cross-country skiing trail is located in the valley.
