From the House you see Skellig Michael (from Sceilig Mhichíl in the Irish language, meaning Michael's rock), also known as the Great Skellig, is a steep rocky island about 15 kilometers west of the coast of County Kerry, Ireland.   It is the larger of the two Skellig Islands.An Irish Celtic monastery, which is situated almost at the summit of the 289-metre-high rock, was built in 588, and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. It is one of Europe's better known but least accessible monasteries.

Wir haben in dieser einen Woche im Skelligs View einen wunderschönen Urlaub erleben dürfen. Das Haus ist sehr ruhig gelegen, und schon die Anfahrt zum Haus war immer wieder auf neue ein Erlebnis, nicht nur wegen der Strasse sondern auch wegen der Aussicht. Wie gesagt es war sehr ruhig, außer Kühen und Schafen und Mutter Natur war nicht viel zu hören. Wir wurden sehr herzlich durch Mary empfangen und fühlten uns gut versorgt, Sekt inklusive. Freier Blick auf die Skelligs und den Atlantik (mit grandiosen Sonnenuntergängen) aus dem Wintergarten und dem Schlafzimmer, was will man mehr? Das Haus war gut ausgestattet und bis auf die Matratze in unserem Bett gab es nichts zu meckern. Wir haben in dieser einen Woche tolle Ausblicke und die irische Gastfreundschaft genossen, wahrscheinlich nicht zum letzten Mal.......

Wer Ruhe und einen spektakulären Ausblick sucht, ist hier gerade richtig. Der Blick über die St. Finians Bay und die Skelligs ist unbezahlbar und das Haus hat alle unsere Erwartungen erfüllt. Es war ein wunderschöner Urlaub, zwar das erste Mal Irland, aber ganz bestimmt nicht das letzte Mal.
