A cosy sleeping corner, a sofa with recamiere, a stable Meranti dining table and desk in the middle of the room, a kitchen with everything you might need, before this, the connecting door to the balcony and the outside world. For those you want to immerse themselves in the changing atmosphere of the park, those who want to see the new leaves on the trees in the spring, lush green tree tops in the summer, the first signs of the autumn when the leaves are dancing in the air or as the slowly settle on the ground, all of these people will observe the impressive show from the gable windows in a way that only nature can put on a show. In the spring as the world is waking up or in the summer you can enjoy your meals up here, like on a picnic in a forest clearing...
The forest clearing ("Lichtung" in German) that was the inspiration for the property's name, can be seen from here during the seasons when the trees do not have leaves. It is a large, wide lawn on the edge of which there is a small canyon and an interesting circular route. Up here under the roof you can hear the silence when the late autumn and winter the humidity of the rain draws dark, wide lines on the trunks of the trees. What view when the hoar frost exposes the structures of the trees and all the branches of the trees become visible. If you are looking for quiet and a remote location, you will find it here. Every day has a different colour, wake up in the morning and go to the park, go to where life is happening.
Parkchâlet Potsdam - a newly interpreted building was created here in 2015 on the foundations of the previous building. It blends naturally into the park landscape as well as into the group of historic chalets (Swiss-style houses). Its clear architecture - which brings the beautiful surroundings inside via skylights, glazed gables or panoramic windows - exudes an atmosphere of quiet serenity.
Of the roughly 200 "Switzerlands" that exist worldwide - approx. 75 in Germany alone -, the Potsdam-Klein-Glienicker "Schweiz" is not widely known. Unlike all the others, this one wasn't referred to as a lovely or sublimely beautiful region. No, it is the vision turned reality (here, into stone) of a Prussian prince: In the 19th century, the special valley location between the Böttcher- and Babelsberg turned out to be an ideal base for creating his mountain world.
